Welcome to Ennis Swimming & Lifesaving Club

Ennis Swimming & Lifesaving Club was established in 1941 by a group of young people interested in developing the sport of swimming & lifesaving in Clare. Their first swimming gala was held in the Turret on the River Fergus in August 1941. They trained and competed in this local river for many years and were the driving force behind the development of the swimming pool complex in Ennis, which opened in 1967.

Every member was expected to undergo lifesaving training and the club has continued to hold its connection with lifesaving and water safety to this day. From its inception Ennis Swimming & Lifesaving Club has been run by dedicated volunteers who have committed their time and energy to bringing the club to where we are today.

Ennis Swimming & Lifesaving Club is affiliated to Swim Ireland and is one of Irelands largest developing competitive swimming clubs in the country, with over 200 members ranging from 8 year olds to masters registered with Swim Ireland. Our club has always been committed to the progress and development of swimming in not only our own club, but throughout the country, through strong links with Swim Ireland. Our members currently hold positions on the National & Regional boards and standing committees. Over the years, our members have included 3 former Presidents of Swim Ireland.

Our primary objective is to facilitate and encourage the development of our young members physically, socially and emotionally through the sport of swimming, and to ensure their welfare while doing so.
